At the HBA Global Expo trade show, botanicals specialist Naturex (Avignon, France) revealed new results from a study showing that its Aurealis bitter orange flower extract significantly increases skin moisture.
The extract, derived from Citrus aurantium L., is said to help the skin maintain its balance of water diffusion and evaporation and to enhance water retention. The ex vivo study showed Aurealis to significantly increase skin thickness by 82% and to stimulate the production of glycoaminoglycans in the skin’s basal layer by 183%. Glycoaminoglycans, including hyaluronic acid, help regulate skin moisture; however, their production can decline due to the aging process.
