Orivo uses fingerprinting technology to verify the species of raw material.
Bioriginal, a Canadian supplier of nutritional oils for humans and pets, announced that its salmon and pollock oils for pet nutrition have been certified by Orivo (Molde, Norway). Orivo uses fingerprinting to verify the species of raw material.
“The Orivo certification guarantees evidence-based transparency of Bioriginal’s raw-materials food and supplements,” a Bioriginal press release states. It adds: “Orivo’s unique fingerprinting technology is used to match omega-3 products with the Orivo reference database to prove authentic origin (species and geographic area) of the raw material used.”
“We have been working hard to grow our marine oil business in the pet nutrition market, and one thing we noticed was an increasing demand from pet owners related to transparency of ingredients,” added Cameron Kupper, vice president, business development, Bioriginal, in the press release. “Our partnership with Orivo allows us to provide evidence-based transparency to customers and consumers—guaranteeing the salmon and pollock oils we sell are 100% pure and authentic.”
