The company now offers Isolexx canola isolates and Vitalexx hydrolyzed canola protein.
BioExx Specialty Proteins Ltd. (BioExx; Toronto) is officially in the market of commercialized canola-oil based protein, the company announced earlier this month.
Claiming to be the world’s first commercial producer of canola oil-based protein isolates and hydrolysates, the company began producing its Isolexx brand canola protein isolates in November. Vitalexx brand hydrolyzed canola protein will also be available.
Canola is the second largest crop grown in Canada, according to BioExx, and this protein source has plenty to offer for nutrition formulations. Canola oil provides over 100% of an adult’s required essential amino acid intake, says the company, noting that its ingredients are also free of phytoestrogens and genetic modification.
With processing plants in Saskatchewan, Canada and Minot, North Dakota, BioExx controls the entire production of its canola protein ingredients from crush and meal production to extraction of the protein.
