BI Nutraceuticals’ (Long Beach, CA) facility in Islandia, NY, has received Safe Quality Food (SQF) 2000 certification from NSF International. SQF 2000 is a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) based food safety and quality management system. The certification indicates that the company’s food safety and quality management systems comply with international and domestic food safety regulations.
“BI was the first nutraceutical raw material supplier to attain this certification back in 2011, and now our East Coast facility has also been recognized by SQF,” says president and CEO George Pontiakos.
The company points out that the Food Safety Modernization Act makes it mandatory for all dietary supplement raw material suppliers to perform hazard analysis and have a risk-based food safety plan in place.
