Bartek Ingredients (Stoney Creek, Ontario) is expanding its malic acid capacity to 10,000 metric tons (MT). The expansion is expected to be completed in Q1 of 2021. Bartek has already completed a 4,000 MT malic acid expansion in 2019, and installed a new 22,500 MT maleic anhydride reactor, which will be operational by Q1 2021. As a result of these expansions, Bartek will have in excess of 30,000 MT of malic acid capacity. This will be sufficient to supply the North American market and meet anticipated global growth.
“Bartek is committed to leading the global market in malic and food-grade fumaric acid and ensuring that our global customers are continuously supplied with high quality malic and fumaric products,” said Bartek CEO John Burrows, in a press release. “These investments are a vital element of our long-term strategy.”
