The company says its AstaPure Arava powder performs well in the gummy matrix.
Astaxanthin supplier Solabia-Algatech Nutrition Ltd. (Kibbutz Ketura, Israel) is entering the gummy supplements market by rolling out its AstaPure Arava astaxanthin whole-algae complex in a gummy format. The company will showcase the innovation at the SupplySide West trade show, taking place October 31 to November 4, 2022, in Las Vegas (Booth #3640).
AstaPure Arava is derived from Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae. Each gummy supplement contains 4 mg of the whole-astaxanthin algae complex as well as 50 mg of vitamin C. According to the company, “One or two gummies per day can award the recommended daily dose of the two antioxidants.”
“Integrating our prized ingredient into gummy application was actually quite a smooth process,” said Omer Grundman, the company’s vice president of R&D, in a press release. “Our AstaPure Arava powder was shown to perform well in a gel medium, and the integrity and stability of its naturally occurring carotenoids remain intact.”
The vegan and pectin-based gummies are kosher and halal and formulated without preservatives and synthetic colors. Solabia-Algatech says it continues to focus on expanding delivery options for its astaxanthin ingredient. Last year, the company introduced its ready-to-mix AstaPure powder for premix formulations for smoothies.
