American Aronia Accelerator is a network of farmers, suppliers, and manufacturers promoting the aronia berry industry.
Aronia berries will be in the spotlight at November’s SupplySide West trade show thanks to American Aronia Accelerator (A3; Fargo, ND) and ingredient supplier Orgenetics Inc. (Brea, CA). At the show, taking place October 31 to November 4, 2022, in Las Vegas, A3 will showcase aronia berry ingredients at the Orgenetics booth (Booth 4164), with a special focus on aronia’s benefits for sports nutrition.
A3, founded in 2009, describes itself as “a network of farmers and suppliers of natural products derived from aronia berry, providing food, beverage, and supplement formulators with aronia ingredients in powder, juice, and extract formats.” The group comprises aronia berry producers located across the U.S. and Canada who together achieve approximately 200,000 aronia plantings annually.
The group says that aronia berries have applications in sports nutrition products. It points to studies showing that aronia berries can support iron levels in athletes. Other benefits of aronia berries include supporting healthy gut bacteria and providing high levels of antioxidants, vitamins (C, B1, B2, B6, and K), and minerals (potassium, zinc, magnesium, and calcium).
In a press release, A3 adds, “In addition to its many health benefits, aronia berries are healthy to cultivate. Whereas growing some superfruits can be environmentally taxing on ecosystems, aronia growing can scale exponentially without straining natural resources. Native to North America, aronia berries are a nutrient-packed superfood that Americans can truly call their own.”
