The free guidance explains how to manufacture and market organic dietary supplements.
Entering the category of organic dietary supplements is a bit easier with new guidance for organic dietary supplements, courtesy of the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA; Silver Spring, MD) and organic certifier QAI (San Diego).
The free guidance includes a broad overview of how to stay in compliance when manufacturing and marketing organic teas, extracts, vitamins and minerals from plants, and even tablets and capsules. Compliance requirements differ depending on the desired marketing language, such as “100% organic” and “made with organic [specific ingredients],” but AHPA and QAI’s guidance clearly explains each.
From farming to packaging, complying with the USDA’s organic guidelines is a must. And for the novice manufacturer, guidance should make doing it all that much easier.
