Food ingredients developer A&B Ingredients (Fairfield, NJ) is now offering a new natural preservative, CytoGuard Stat-N, to its line of microbials.
CytoGuard Stat-N is a microbial suppressor made up of lignin fractions containing actives from carbonyl compounds, organic acids, and residual phenolics. It is designed to ward off pathogens and bacteria, such as yeast or mold, without compromising product flavor and color. The preservative can even be used as a surface treatment on food products.
As a water-soluble liquid with a wide ph range, this ingredient can be applied to a variety of food products. It is allergen-free and GMO-free with no requirement of special handling or storage conditions.
“For natural products, CytoGuard Stat-N can also improve product shelf-life by as much as 30%, making it an exceptional option versus other natural preservatives,” said Gil Bakal, general manager of A&B Ingredients.
