Coffee maker Brioni is testing out a line of inulin-fortified coffee.
Brioni’s latest coffee promotion, Healthy Morning Coffee, is making use of prebiotic inulin for digestive health benefits. The new coffee line is the result of a partnership with Beneo-Orafti (Morris Plains, NJ), a supplier of inulin fiber.
Inulin is a soluble fiber that is-at least in the case of Beneo’s ingredient-derived from chicory root. Unlike some other fibers, inulin passes the stomach and intestines fully intact before it ferments in the colon, stimulating growth of beneficial bacteria for an overall improved colonic environment. Research on inulin suggests a potential for improved mineral absorption and immune health without minimal changes in blood glucose. The ingredient can be added to baked goods, beverages, dairy products, confectionery, and many other products.
Available in five different flavors, Brioni’s inulin–fortified coffee offers 4 g of fiber in a single cup.
