Results of a study Sabinsa's Curcumin C3 Complex.
Curcumin may be an effective ingredient for lowering triglycerides, according to a study published in Phytotherapy Research.
High lipid content in blood serum is considered a risk factor for heart disease, and it is also a common feature of obesity. Previous research has supported curcumin, a principle compound from turmeric, for reducing triglycerides.
For one month, Iranian researchers assigned 30 obese subjects to a daily dose of placebo or 1 g of Curcumin C3 Complex, a unique composition of curcuminoids and bioavailability-enhancing BioPerine piperine extract from Sabinsa Corp. (East Windsor, NJ). Researchers routinely assessed weight parameters, cholesterol levels, and C-reactive protein levels in each subject.
While curcumin supplementation did not appear to affect cholesterol or C-reactive protein, it did significantly lower triglyceride levels for both crossover groups: from 105.7 to 95.1 mg/dL and 120.7 to 104.7 mg/dL.
