Batory Foods (Des Plaines, IL) is now an authorized distributor for Corbion (Amsterdam), including its full line of lactic acid, lactic acid derivatives, and lactides. In its announcement, Batory described the distribution agreement as the “natural progression of the flourishing relationship Batory and Corbion have enjoyed for years.”
With Cobion’s work on preservation, flavor enhancement, pH regulation, and mineral fortifications across a variety of food and beverage categories, the arrangement is meant to allow Corbion to focus on its core business while Batory “will manage the needs of customers with a demand for less-than-truckload shipments.”
“This is a win for Batory, Corbion and, most important, our customers,” says Ken Krasowski, senior product manager, Batory. “Corbion benefits from the efficiencies we offer. For customers, we can quickly deliver anywhere across the U.S. So we’re taking lead times down from two to three weeks to just a few days.”
Additionally, customers already sourcing from Batory Foods can now add Corbion products to their existing orders.
Construction to Start on New Logistics Facility
Batory also recently announced it will be breaking ground on a new, 678,000-square-foot facility in May, to be located in Wilmington, IL.
Beginning in November 2016, the new facility will allow Batory to “launch a new line of business, providing third-party logistics services to key suppliers,” such as dairy company Fonterra (Auckland, New Zealand), which will be serviced out of the new location.
The new facility will feature technology upgrades designed to enhance efficiency and put the facility “ahead of the regulatory curve,” including custom-built food-grade dock packages and yard managements with an automatic gate system to decrease carrier cycle time on-site. The sit will also be C-TPAT Certified, says Batory.
“Not only does the technology give us an edge from a business perspective,” says Jessica Stoja, operations project manager, Batory. “It allows us to meet and exceed world-class standards in food safety, security, and employee safety.”
