Sabinsa Corp. (East Windsor, NJ) will launch a new USP-grade ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) ingredient at SupplySide West called Shagandha. According to the company, Shagandha ashwagandha will “change the way people look at this popular adaptogen.”
In addition to introducing Shagandha, Sabinsa will showcase its recently launched black cumin seed extract (Nigella sativa), called Nigellin. The ingredient is standardized to contain thymoquinone, thymohydroquinone, hederagenin, and rosmarinic acid. Studies show the medicinal properties of thymoquinone and black cumin include helping to maintain a healthy inflammatory response, maintaining healthy blood pressure, improving glycemic control in diabetic patients, improving male fertility, and more. The Nigellin ingredient is rich in essential fatty acids as well, including omega-6 (66%) and omega-9 (20%). Sabinsa recently launched three versions of Nigellin: Amber, Onyx, and Pearl.
Finally, Sabinsa will celebrate its 30th anniversary with champagne at its SupplySide West booth at 4:00 PM on November 8th, the first day of the show.
